I try to keep a stable mind I try to stay the patient one You’ve been making plans for us Never thinking about the fun We’re all prisoners of pride Don’t think you’re the only one Seems to me you’ll be ok Just tell them you’re good and done Maybe it’s ok not to be ok All you gotta do is Turn the Page Tried my best to follow suit Acted like I gave a damn But if things don’t go your way You won’t smile I’m glad I can Some folks don’t have any work Some won’t have a bed tonight I’m thankful things aren’t so bad But for you, they’re never right Maybe it’s ok not to be ok All we gotta do is Turn the Page Maybe it’s ok just to be ok It’s not real life it’s a gilded cage

Don’t have the time to give it naively these days When it just ends up written off and caught in games Won’t get my attention won’t get in my way My way or the highway ain’t nothing you can say Oh world don’t let me down again Restless and ready, don’t let this be the end I’ve been scraping a living, I’ve been just getting by But momento mori, yeah one day you will die There are still a few things I think I wanna try I’m going while it’s good, won’t let this pass me by As soon as it is written I will find a way To turn it to ash and then wash it away A world turned to dark, a world turned to grey I could burn it all down Phoenix & Flame

Something has changed since we last spoke You’ve a tired and heavy frown Through all the mirrors and the smoke Another one has let you down If we all want the same things There’s too little to go around We’re fools when trying to be Kings If Queens are gone or never found I’ve never been a great leader Could I help lead you from the dark You burn with the most immense fire That’s been driving me From the Start This modern fad they call success Is not always easy to do Wasn’t for me, you might have guessed I still wished it went well for you Have we misplaced our perspective For progress and growth at all costs Surely it’s all ineffective When understanding has been lost I’ve never been a great leader Could I help lead you from the dark Burn with the most immense fire That’s been driving me From the Start Could you help me get it clearer Why I can’t seem to get it right Lacking the skills I require To walk away from the light So what if we never make it Fighting the wind the whole time No room to walk off or break it A path that’s so clearly defined

Fall Apart 04:26
Always found it hard to track the meaning of success Struggling with the means but somehow happier with less But stumbling how I was back then led me to this end Where to go and when what to let die or defend But there’s no milestone, there’s no marker It all adds up and the day gets darker And you Fall Apart And you Fall Apart We’ve all got a lot to learn about letting go I just wanna hold on to what I used to know But all I’m really sure of is you’re not here tonight And no matter what I want well it’s never by my side There’s no milestone, there’s no marker It all adds up and the day gets darker And you Fall Apart And you Fall Apart It’s a stalemate you’re in stasis It’s the same old pile of trash in a bunch of different places And you Fall Apart The older I have gotten the less I’ve come to know Had to make my own mistakes, never liking to be shown Well it ain’t the job you got more the people that you meet Some trying to beat the rat race some trying to find their feet There’s no milestone What if there’s no marker If it all adds up are you just gonna let it go darker And then you Fall Apart Then Fall Apart It’s a stalemate you’re in stasis, You just didn't hit the ball so you run around the bases And you Fall Apart.

No One Sings It Better Jumped straight in my car and said drive Searching for a place you could hide From all of your failures and ghosts Once heroes that wasted your time I never could manage to shake The way you would watch the day break I still look for you in the dark And a way to get back to the start We don’t have to fight You don’t have to talk You don’t have to stay So please don’t walk Even so baby, No One Sings It Better than you do Our worst regrets, the dreams of such fools We’re always caught between paying our dues Veiled truths all I could give to you Hit me straight out of nowhere like you The clouds unfolded clear and blue I’ll never understand how I could always find a way to let you down So stuck on getting you back It all happened so damn fast Distracted by your ominous frown Off the bridge on the edge of old town You don’t have to go We never got to talk And now I’ll never know If we were better off You just gotta know I wasn’t gonna stop I never would have left Unless you called it off

about

Andy Hawkins UK

Andy Hawkins did the thing everyone dreams of doing; he quit his job of 7 years, started writing songs, and is about to put out his first EP. Inspired by Bob Dylan, Brian Fallon and Billy Bragg, Andy signed up for songwriting coaching with Canadian songwriter Billy Pettinger. He then traded in his 60 hour work weeks and unforgiving boss for a gig as a security guard so he could focus on writing. ... more
